Portland – Day 2

Yesterday was a day of hiking and beautiful (if not stunning) natural features. We began our day at Voodoo Doughnuts at the urging of just about everyone that had been to Portland before. After being amused by the original vodoo donut (complete with raspberry filling and a pretzel for poking) and maple bacon donut, we headed out for our drive to the Columbia River Gorge and the falls.

We hiked out to visit three of the falls, Wahkeena, Multnomah and Bridal Veils and then stopped and admired the vastness of the Columbia River Gorge. There are no words to describe how beautiful all of these sites were.

I’m thinking that I already have plenty of pictures for this half of the day on this post (and there are even more in my flickr account), so you will just have to wait and hear more about our trip for the second half of the day to the Oregon coast in the next post!

if that’s bacon on a donut, that’s the sickest thing i’ve ever seen.

It is indeed bacon on a donut. It stems from maple bacon . . . which I guess Voodoo decided would be a good combination on a donut. Oddly enough the donut was far to sweet for me. I like maple syrup and bacon (like when you get pancakes and bacon and dip your bacon in the extra syrup, that’s yummy) but this donut was just. . . sugary.
