I got my sewing machine back!!

Finally, after almost three weeks. . .

So I whipped up this cute little skirt from Sew What! Skirts by Francesca DenHartog. It’s pretty similar to the Angry Chicken’s 5 Minute Skirt (pdf). I know now that if I make another elastic waistband skirt that I should put in some darts before I create the waistband. I still like the skirt a lot – it’s really comfortable and I love the fabric. I can’t wait to make some more from this book. 🙂

Love it! And I love that fabric — I think you made a good choice to use it as a skirt. Glad your machine is fixed, too!

Beth, that looks so cool!! I have been missing my sewing machine since I’ve been at school! I want to learn how to make dresses and skirts and bags. One weekend when I’m home, we should have sewing party and you can teach me all your mad skills..

    Thanks ladies!

Kayle – we certainly have a sewing day when you’re back in town – although I’m not sure what ‘mad skills’ you’re talking about. 🙂

Oh, this skirt was so easy. SO easy. I only had to sew 4 staight lines. Doesn’t get much better than that. Eventually I will take on a zippered skirt, but for now, elastic works for me. 🙂

I wish they sold some of the FOE in stores here…I would like to try some of it on the waistband of a skirt. I found some think ribbed FOE, but it looked like the elastic you find on granny panties. Bummer.

“think” was supposed to say “kind” — don’t know what is going on with my brain today! Whoa! 🙂

I wish they sold FOE here too . . . I was thinking about that when I was making the skirt. It seems like it would be so easy to use!
